NanoString Receives ISO 13485:2003 Certification
In May, we received ISO 13485:2003 certification, an internationally recognized quality standard for medical devices. This was an important milestone in our strategy to develop the nCounter Analysis System for molecular diagnostics. Read More
Human microRNA Expression Assay Kit Launched at AACR
At the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting in April we launched a unique new product for miRNA analysis that includes a multiplexed assay for profiling the human miRNA transcriptome in a single tube. NanoString's Human miRNA Expression Assay Kit enables researchers to profile more than 700 human and human-viral miRNAs with specificity and sensitivity comparable to qPCR at a fraction of the cost. Peroxisomes Are Signaling Platforms for Antiviral Innate Immunity
Cell, May 6, 2010
Evelyn Dixit, Steeve Boulant, Yijing Zhang, Amy S.Y. Lee, Charlotte Odendall, Bennett Shum, Nir Hacohen, Zhijian J. Chen, Sean P. Whelan, Marc Fransen, Max L. Nibert, Giulio Superti-Furga, and Jonathan C. Kagan
While mitochondria have emerged as an important site of antiviral signal transduction, a role for peroxisomes in immune defense was unknown. The authors report work involving the use of the nCounter system led to the discovery that the RIG-I-like receptor (RLR) adaptor protein MAVS is located on peroxisomes and mitochondria. The authors describe evidence that peroxisomes are an important site of antiviral signal transduction, which may lead to new therapeutic targets. Read More
Note: We interviewed senior author Jonathan Kagan about this work for our Science nCounter feature in this newsletter.
High accuracy, high-resolution prevalence measurement for the majority of locally expressed regulatory genes in early sea urchin development
Gene Expression Patterns, April 16, 2010
Stefan C. Materna, Jongmin Nama and Eric H. Davidson
Using the nCounter Analysis System, the authors measured the prevalence of 172 transcription factors and signaling molecules in early sea urchin development. These measurements show high fidelity over more than five orders of magnitude down to a few transcripts per embryo. Most of the genes included are locally restricted in their spatial expression, and contribute to the divergent regulatory states of cells in the developing embryo. In order to obtain high-resolution expression profiles from fertilization to late gastrulation samples were collected at hourly intervals. The measured time courses agree well with, and substantially extend, prior relative abundance measurements obtained by quantitative PCR. The data are available via an interactive website for quick plotting of selected time courses. Read More
