Spatially Resolved Immune Profiling of Prostate Tumor Specimens Associated with Nodal Metastases

Abnormal expression of proteins with immune function appears to be a potentially critical facet of prostate cancer progression, potentially facilitating the milestone transitional event of early metastasis to adjacent lymph nodes.  To uncover proteomic differences that define cancers that have undergone this transition, we leveraged NanoString’s GeoMx™ DSP (Digital Spatial Profiler) to interrogate spatially contextualized expression profiles for a set of critical immune-related proteins across 3 arms of FFPE (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded) research clinical specimens: (1) high-grade tumors associated with the presence of adjacent lymph node metastasis on surgical pathology; (2) high-grade tumors without nodal metastasis involvement; and (3) lower-grade tumors.
