GeoMx Whole Transcriptome Atlas Grant: University of Miami

Calling all University of Miami Researchers! Apply now to quantitatively map the whole transcriptome to user-defined regions of FFPE/fresh-frozen tissue using the GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler.

Two projects will be selected, one oncology focused and one non-oncology focused. Winners will be announced November 18, 2022. The cost of the project will be covered. You are invited to attend the NanoSting spatial multiomics seminar that will be held at the University of Miami on October 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM EST, as part of the Sylvester Shared Resources Advanced Biomedical Technology Seminar series. Register for the seminar HERE.

Full Transcriptome Spatial RNA Analysis

The GeoMx Human Whole Transcriptome Atlas (GeoMx Hs WTA) provides an unbiased view of 18,000+ protein-coding genes. The GeoMx Hs WTA unlocks new pathways to be explored by researchers and enables GeoMx RNA profiling in oncology, immunology, neuroscience, developmental biology, and other diverse fields. GeoMx Hs WTA provides robust and sensitive performance on FFPE or Fresh Frozen samples.

Each winner will receive:

  • 2 slides worth of the WTA probes (human)
  • Project and data analysis consultation
  • Commercially available morphology kit
    • Solid Tumor Kit: Pan-CK, CD45, and SYTO13 nuclear stain
    • Melanoma kit: S100B/Pmel17, CD45, and nuclear stain
    • Alzheimers kit: amyloid-beta, Iba-1, and nuclear stain
    • Parkinsons kit: alpha-synuclein, MAP-2, and nuclear stain
  • NanoString reagents for up to 96 AOIs (collections)

Application Guidelines:

  • Grant Deadline: October 31, 2022

Publication of Project Results:

Upon project completion, the grant winner agrees to participate in at least one of the following activities relating to the specific project, with specific details of the applicable activity to be mutually agreed upon in good faith by NanoString and each winner: webinar, case study, blog post, or poster presentation. Each winner agrees that NanoString shall have the right to publicly announce the winner’s name and research topic and use anonymized data from the winner’s project in application notes including in marketing materials and seminars.

Eligibility and Requirements:

Applicants must be actively enrolled or employed at an institution or company in a capacity in which they perform life science research and have the ability to ship and analyze samples within 45 days of award notification. The winner must be age 18 or older. Members of the immediate families of NanoString employees and directors, and/or persons living in the same household as such persons, are ineligible to participate in this grant program. The grant winners will provide 3 slides to the Sylvester Cancer Modeling Shared Resource (CMSR) at the University of Miami, where 1 slide will be used for a QC run and 2 slides will be used with the GeoMx® Human Whole Transcriptome Atlas. The CMSR will transfer your slides to the Sylvester Onco-Genomics Shared Resource (OGSR) for user-defined profiling, sample collection, and sequencing. In addition to the costs that will be covered by NanoString, the Sylvester Shared Resources will cover the cost of the upstream histology work (by the Cancer Modeling Shared Resource) and the cost of the downstream sequencing data generation (by the Onco-Genomics Shared Resource) for these two pilot data grants.
